Santiago Gimenez, the human goal-machine recently imported from Italy, is poised to make his grand debut with Porto this Friday. There’s just one tiny hurdle: a life-or-death battle against the forces of administrative bureaucracy. His potential unleashing upon the unsuspecting Moreirense hangs by the thread of a notarized document.

Coach Francesco Farioli, speaking with the anxious energy of a scientist about to release a lab-grown velociraptor, confirmed Gimenez is on the roster for the September 4 match. His only caveat? The entire operation depends on avoiding a “setback with the papers.” This confirms the most formidable opponent Santi faces this week isn’t a center-back, but a pile of forms that could single-handedly halt his European conquest. After a legendary stint at Feyenoord where he bagged 65 goals, and a more subdued Italian detour with AC Milan that yielded 7 goals amidst injury woes, Gimenez now joins Porto’s time-honored program for elite Mexican talent. The club has a history of hosting stars like Héctor Herrera, Tecatito Corona, and Miguel Layún, effectively operating as the unofficial Portuguese embassy for Aztec goal-scorers. Farioli cautiously mentioned that the striker is still integrating and needs to get up to the team’s rhythm, a classic coach-speak for, “Please don’t expect him to score a hat-trick in the first ten minutes, but we all know he might.” He also has to manage a brutal calendar, with a Champions League showdown against Manchester City looming on September 8, making the bureaucratic green light more urgent than a last-minute penalty kick.

So while fans anticipate his first goal, the real drama is unfolding in an office somewhere. The question isn’t whether Gimenez is ready for Portugal, but whether Portugal’s filing system is ready for him. The destiny of the Dragones rests on a heroic clerk with a very important stamp.
